My friend and I had been invited to a villa party in the South of France on the back of a deal that we were a part of with work. At the party there was this guy and although we only got chance to speak for around five minutes, we connected instantly. Because of this he added me later on Facebook and we spoke pretty much daily for the next month!
During this month we arranged to meet each other at a hotel in Florence and explore Tuscany together. We agreed on the itinerary and he flew in from Vienna and I arrived from Milano. As he touched down first he rented a fiat 500 and I got the train to meet him at the hotel we’d agreed on. I got to the hotel and things picked up as quickly as they had started with us and we were smiling constantly all night.
We woke quite early the following and set off driving through Tuscany visiting some of the most romantic cities of Italy, such as Siena, Lucca, Pisa, and Cinque Terre. The adventure was amazing and certainly one of the best I had ever been on. The highlight for me was seeing the Pisa Tower in person, it really does lean more than you expect!
The fun we had on this trip was replicated on many more trips, including a one through Thailand on motorbikes! The conclusion of the story was that sometimes it is good to come out of your comfort zone and take a chance on a stranger, maybe he will be an excellent travel partner.
